Tesla Yet to Sign Contract With Hertz as Musk Faults “Strange” Company Valuation

(MarketWatch) Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk says that the company has not signed a contract to deliver 100,000 electric vehicles to Hertz by 2022.

Musk questioned a 33% Tesla stock rally following an announcement of orders by Hertz. The Tesla CEO says the said deal with Hertz has zero impact on its economics as Tesla currently enjoys more demand than production.

The Tesla CEO says that cars sold to Hertz carry no discount as is an expectation when vehicles are sold to rental firms.

Musk’s comment contradicts an announcement by Hertz on October 25 that said that the company has orders of 100,000 vehicles by the end of 2022. Hertz had hinted at expanding orders to 150,000 electric vehicles over the next three years if the program succeeds.

TSLA: NASDAQ is down -4.14% on premarket.
