Terra Community Passes Do Kwon’s Proposal to Fork Blockchain

(Terra) Terra co-founder Do Kwon’s proposal to create a new blockchain has earned the support of 65.5% of the community members. 13.2% of members voted no, while 20% abstained. 

Under the passed proposal, a new blockchain that will airdrop tokens to the users affected by the collapse of the TerraUSD or UST stablecoin will be created. The new blockchain will be named Terra, while the existing one will now be referred to as Terra Classic.

The proposal details that Terra 2.0 is scheduled to hit the mainnet on Friday. Afterward, LUNA 2.0 tokens will be availed for trading.

The LUNA 2.0 tokens will be airdropped to the existing network stakeholders at a pre-decided percentage. A majority of the tokens are said to be subject to vesting periods. 

The fork will also see the new Terra blockchain exist without the UST token.
