(Reuters) Stellantis Chrysler brand will line up only electric vehicles by 2028 as the company phases out gasoline-powered automobiles.
The brand’s North American chief executive Chris Feuell expects the company to debut its first EV by 2025 before introducing more up to 2028 and beyond in a complete transformation of the automaker’s portfolio.
The company’s EVs will be manufactured on four electric platforms and will drive for 500 to 800 km on a single charge.
Stellantis also eyes new products, including introducing a new utility vehicle, in a move the automaker expects to reestablish itself and improve sales. The company projects its product lineup beyond the Pacifica minivan and 300 sedans.
The developments follow a planned investment of 30 billion euros or $33.87 billion by Stellantis, which the company announced in July for vehicle electrification through 2025.
Alfa Romeo is expected to be the first brand of Stellantis in North America that will become all-electric in 2027. The brand targets at least 70% of sales in Europe and more than 40% in the US of battery or hybrid electric in this decade.
Stellantis will also remould and customize the existing vehicle models to enhance the consumer experience, with key features such as over-the-air software updates and artificial intelligence features lined up.
