(Markets Insider) Movie-theater chain Regal Cinemas starts accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.
The company will accept a number of digital payments, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, USD coin, and Basic Attention Token via the Flexa network.
Regal is following the move of its rival AMC. Earlier in November, the meme-stock movie theater allowed moviegoers to pay online in various cryptos, including bitcoin, ether, bitcoin cash, and Litecoin.
Ken Thewes Chief Marketing Officer stated that the move was an exciting move to easily and seamlessly allow payment in digital currencies across its theatre footprint.
Other physical chains, including Whole Foods, Crate and Barrel, and Nordstrom, have already started accepting bitcoin as a payment option.
In 2021, cryptocurrencies have shifted towards the mainstream. Bitcoin has reached multiple new highs as retail traders, and crypto whales hold digital assets.
BTC USD down -1.78%, ETH USD down -1.07%, LTC USD down -2.27%, DOGE USD down -4.01%.
