(Bloomberg) Prospects of Turkey resolving differences with the US following the purchase of Russian missiles boosted lira by as much as 1.7%.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that Turkey is ready to hold talks to arrive at reasonable and logical solutions with the US.
Akar could not elaborate on expectations of a breakthrough with the US even as the presidents of the two countries are expected to meet in Brussels on Monday.
Turkey is still to show signs of agreeing with the US’s demand that Ankara do away with Russian S-400 missiles to have sanctions imposed by Washington lifted.
The US is concerned that Russian missiles could be used to obtain intelligence on US F-35 fighter jets that Turkey helped to build.
