Pinterest Revenue Surges 125% In the Second Quarter. Downgrades Guidance

(Pinterest) Social media platform Pinterest saw its second-quarter revenue increase by 125% year over year to $613 million on pandemic-induced consumer demand. 

Pinterest’s global monthly active users grew 9% to 454 million from 416 million users in the second quarter last year. 

The company’s net income jumped to $69.4 million from a loss of $101 million in the second quarter of 2020.

Pinterest grew its basic EPS to $ 0.11 in the second quarter from a loss of $0.17 in the same quarter last year. 

The company’s adjusted EBITDA was $178 million, up from -$33.9 million in the second quarter of 2020. 

Pinterest’s current Monthly Active Users in the U.S. declined by about 7%, even as the MAUs globally rose by 5% from the prior year. 

The company expects that Q3 revenue will grow in the low of -40% margin compared to the same quarter last year.
