(MSF) The Metaverse Standards Forum is a new name for a body of leading organizations seeking to accelerate the transition to an open metaverse.
The new forum is expected to promote industry-wide cooperation for interoperability standards for the open metaverse.
The consortium says the forum will explore the interoperability limitations hindering metaverse deployment. They will also explore how to evolve the work of Standards Developing Organizations to make them align with the priorities of metaverse standards.
Some of the action-based projects that have been marked include implementation prototyping, plugfests, hackathons, and open-source tooling. The projects are expected to accelerate the testing and adoption of metaverse standards.
The forum’s activities will be determined by the needs and interests of its members. They are expected to cut across diverse technology domains, including 3D assets and rendering, interaction paradigms, and human interface.
Some founding members include 0xSenses, Academy Software Foundation, Adobe, Autodesk, Avataar, and Alibaba, among others. The forum meetings are scheduled to start next month.
The move happens when several industry leaders have called for open standards for the realization of the full potential of the metaverse. The Metaverse Standards Forum believes that an inclusive and open metaverse demands open interoperability standards.
