New Home Sales Climb 14% in September but Remain Below Prior Year

(Census Bureau) US sales of new homes in September reached an annual rate of 800,000, a jump of 14.0% from August.

New Residential Sales

At 800,000, sales of new homes are now 17.6% below the rate in September 2020.

In September, the median sales price for new houses was $408,800, with an average price of $451,700.

At the end of September, the seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses in the market was 379,000, a 5.7-months of supply at the prevailing sales rate.
