Top Gainers
Among the major international banks, Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LLOY) saw the largest increase in share price, rising by 1.81%. Meanwhile, Pershing Square Holdings Ltd. (PSH), a closed-end funds firm, and Persimmon PLC (PSN), a residential building construction company, experienced gains of 1.73% and 1.17% respectively.
Real estate developers company, Rightmove PLC (RMV), and investment advisors business, M&G PLC (MNG), also made it into the top five gainers as their stocks increased by 0.95% and 0.90% respectively.
Top Losers
JD Sports Fashion PLC (JD), a clothing retail company, witnessed the largest drop among the FTSE 100 constituents with a decline of 5.15% in share price on Friday.
Food retail firm, Ocado Group PLC (OCDO), and gambling industries company, Entain PLC (ENT), also experienced decreases of 4.25% and 2.49% respectively.
Other Movements
Rentokil Initial PLC (RTO), a diversified business services company, and specialty retail company, D C C P L C DCC, rounded out the top five largest decreases as their stocks declined by 1.52% and 1.46% respectively.
Currency and Commodity Updates
The pound showed slight strength against the dollar, rising by 0.24% to $1.2719. It also saw a modest increase of 0.25% against the euro, reaching €1.1554.
Brent crude declined by 0.6% to $78.69, and the yield on the 10-year gilt fell 3.320 basis points to 3.502%.
