(Bloomberg) Microsoft has announced that it is working on its version of corporate metaverse with PowerPoint, Excel, and digital avatars.
The software company is testing conferencing programs and Microsoft teams chats to be unveiled in the first half of next year for the ‘corporate virtual world’.
Microsoft will use a software called Mesh in the Teams feature unveiled on Tuesday for virtual reality and augmented reality. The content and avatars can be displayed in 2D and 3D images.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the technology has been very useful in the wake of the pandemic and he has used it to visit a Toyota manufacturing plant and a hospital ward in the UK.
Nadella says that Microsoft would replicate the Metaverse technology in its Xbox gaming platform.
Microsoft also unveiled Dynamic 365 Connected Spaces, a software used to interact in the factory and retail spaces on Tuesday.
