(CNBC) Meta has agreed to integrate its Workplace enterprise social network software with rival’s Microsoft Teams.
The integration is expected to give users access to Workplace content inside the Teams app. The users can also access Teams video meetings on Meta’s Workplace app.
Meta’s head of Workplace Ujjwal Singh says the integration was as result of customer requests who include Accenture and Vodafone.
Meta’s Workplace is seen as a complement to Microsoft’s Teams as the former focuses on companywide connections while the latter targets instantaneous communications.
Singh expects the integration to help customers who use Workplace and Teams, solving an employee-experience problem.
Workplace had 7 million paid subscribers as of May, lagging Microsoft’s Teams which had 250 million monthly active users as of July.
