U.S. Futures Point to Modest Gains

Futures for the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average in the U.S. showed an increase of 0.2% each. It is important to note that changes in futures do not always accurately predict market movements.

European Stocks Show Mixed Performance

In morning trading, the Stoxx Europe 600 experienced a slight decline of 0.1%. However, Viaplay Group Series B saw a notable increase of 28%, while Wartsila also rose by 13%. On the other hand, Lonza Group dropped 7.5%, and Stora Enso R lost 6.2%. The FTSE 100 remained flat, while France’s CAC 40 showed no significant change and Germany’s DAX dropped by 0.6%.

Dollar Index Stays Steady

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index remained flat at 95.6.

Commodities Show Gains

Brent crude oil gained 0.8% and reached $80.28 per barrel, while WTI crude climbed 0.9% to $76.30 per barrel.

Bond Yields Experience Marginal Changes

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by a mere 0.1 basis points to 2.488% from 2.487%. Meanwhile, the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury remained unchanged at 3.854% in comparison to the previous figure of 3.853%. It is important to note that bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Asian Markets Display Mixed Performance

Stocks in Asia showed a mixed performance with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index falling by 0.6%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng witnessing a gain of 0.6%, and China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite dropping by 0.1%.
