Manufactured Goods Orders Jumps by 1.2% in August

(Census Bureau) US orders for manufactured goods rose by 1.2% or $6.2 billion in August to reach $515.7 billion. The increase was higher than a jump of 0.7% in July.

New Orders for Manufactured Goods

Manufactured goods orders have now increased for the last fifteen out of sixteen months.

Shipments rose by 0.1% or $0.3 billion to reach $508.3 billion. The shipments had increased by a higher 1.5% in July.

Unfilled orders for the seventh straight month by 1.0% or $11.9 billion reached $1,239.4 billion. The increase was double a jump of 0.5% in July.

Inventories went up by 0.6% or $4.1 billion to reach $749.3 billion. The increase was the same as in July, with the inventories-to-shipments ratio remaining static at 1.47.
