(Korea Daily) Tech giant LG Electronics has welcomed blockchain and cryptocurrencies into its corporate charter in a diversification push.
In its annual general meeting on March 24, LG is said to have made an official statement to develop and sell blockchain-based software.
LG did not confirm or reject the speculations that it intends to start a crypto exchange, saying that “nothing had been decided yet.”
The latest announcement comes at a time the South Korean tech giant has been exploring integrating NFTs. Earlier in the month, the company said it was working with blockchain tech firm Kakao’s Ground X to introduce a line of smart TVs.
Other South Korean tech companies, including Samsung, have always been seeking expansion into the crypto space, focusing on NFTs and the metaverse.
