(Twitter) Fast-food chain giants Yum! Brands, Pizza Hut, and Kentucky Fried Chicken have filed multiple trademark applications to offer products and services in the metaverse.
The applications, which also include non-fungible tokens, were filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office on March 25.
The filing will see the food chains offer virtual food and beverage products, retail services, as well as the opening of online virtual restaurants.
The patents follow the peers in the restaurant sector such as McDonald’s, Panera Bread, Burger King, and Panda Express that have made inroads into Metaverse.
Beyond the restaurant sector, companies such as Meta and American Express have filed patents to move into the metaverse.
