U.S jobless claims in the week ending March 6 was 712,000, a fall of 42,000 from the previous week, according to the Department of Labor press release. The total claims were less than expected 725,000.
The previous week’s jobless level was revised up by 9,000 from 745,000 to 754,000.
Continuing claims fell by 193,000 to 4.1 million.
The previous week’s continuous level was revised up by 42,000 from 4.295 million to 4.34 million.
The four-week moving average was 759,000, a decline of 34,000 from the previous week.
Advance unadjusted actual initial claims under state programs was 709,458 in the week ending March 6, a 6.2% decrease from the previous week.
