Jobless Claims Extend Declines to Hit a Below-Estimate of 547,000

US jobless claims were 547,000 for the week ending April 17, a 39,000 fall from the previous week, according to the Department of Labor press release. The jobless claims were below the estimated 603,000 and were at the lowest level since March 14, 2020.

The previous week’s jobless claims were revised up by 10,000 from 576,000 to 586,000.

Continuing claims were 3.674 million, down 34,000 from the previous week.

The previous week’s continuing claims were revised down by 23,000 to 3.708 million. 

The 4-week jobless claims moving average was 651,000, down 27,750 from the previous week.

The unadjusted actual initial claims under state programs were 566,479 in the week ending April 17, down 9.1% from the previous week.

U.S stocks are currently declining as the dollar gains. SPY is down 0.16%, QQQ is down 0.23%, EURUSD is down 0.14%
