(The Sandbox) Banking giant HSBC has partnered with The Sandbox to make forays into the booming metaverse space.
The partnership saw HSBC acquire a plot of land and virtual real estate in The Sandbox that will later be developed for e-sports and gaming. The virtual land will also accommodate finance professionals.
HSBC’s chief marketing officer Suresh Balaji lauded the partnership, pointing out that the metaverse is how individuals will experience the future of the Internet, dubbed Web 3.
Balaji says the bank sees a lot of opportunity in the metaverse through the creation of exciting experiences through emerging platforms.
HSBC has now become the latest company to enter The Sandbox metaverse, with others such as Gucci, Ubisoft, and Warner Music Group already camping on the virtual space.
