Ford’s Retail Sales Grew 23% in March but US Volume Plummets by a Quarter

(Ford) Ford said that its retail sales in March increased by 23.2% compared to February, underlining the company’s improvement in production and inventory.

F-Series posted a record 50,000 new retail orders in March, while another record 41% of sales were generated from already placed orders. 

The automaker said that its SUVs increased by 39.2%, while van and truck sales improved by 12.5%.

Despite the improvement, the total sales in the US fell by 25.6% from the prior year.

Ford’s retail orders also improved, with the automaker’s dealers taking in 88,000 orders in the month, up by 66,000 from the prior year.

Ford announced that its electric vehicle sales hit a record, improving by 37.9% from the prior year.
