German power supplier EnBW plans to open the biggest public fast charging park for electric vehicles in Europe in the fourth quarter, according to Yahoo! Finance. The facility will supply renewable electricity to high-power charging points of 300-kilowatt capacity each.
52 EVs will be able to charge using renewable power at the facility, with a charging period of five minutes for a range of up to 100 kilometers.
The park will be situated at the Kamener Kreuz motorway intersection in North-Rhine Westphalia.
The park will obtain power from newly-constructed photovoltaic modules, although solar energy will be inadequate.
EnBW plans to operate 2,500 fast-charging sites in Germany by 2025.
The company has created mobility access contracts for drivers at its sites interchangeable with other vendors’ charging points using mobile apps.
EnBW has 5.5 million customer accounts requiring power, gas, water, and energy services.
The expansion of publicly-accessible charging points is expected to ease concerns for EVs and create new business opportunities around the sites.
