European Stocks Close Lower; Stoxx Europe 600 Falls 0.98%

The European stock market ended the week on a downward note, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index dropping 0.98% to 449.18.

Top Decreases in Stoxx Europe 600

  • St. James’s Place PLC: Shares of investing/securities company St. James’s Place PLC saw the biggest decrease, with a sharp decline of 21.8%.
  • Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. and Sartorius AG Pfd.: Health care/life sciences firms Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. and Sartorius AG Pfd. saw significant drops of 16.7% and 13.3%, respectively.
  • Orpea S.A. and Oersted A/S: Health care/life sciences company Orpea S.A. and electric utilities company Oersted A/S also experienced substantial declines of 13.0% and 9.4%, respectively.

  • alstria office REIT-AG: Real estate investment trust firm alstria office REIT-AG witnessed the largest increase, with shares surging by 13.2% on Friday.
  • Tryg A/S and Proximus: Insurance firm Tryg A/S and telephone systems company Proximus saw gains of 5.8% and 5.1% respectively.
  • Dino Polska S.A. and MorphoSys AG: Retail company Dino Polska S.A. and health care/life sciences firm MorphoSys AG rounded out the top five with increases of 3.9% and 3.3%, respectively.

  • Euro: The euro was down 0.27%.
  • Brent Crude: Brent crude gained 4.14% to $89.56.

  • 10-year Gilt: The yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 3.11 basis points to 4.390%.
  • German 10-year Bund: The yield on the German 10-year bund declined by 5.100 basis points to 2.74%.
