(Cointelegraph) El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele showcased a geothermal power generation facility for crypto mining about three weeks since the country accepted Bitcoin as a legal tender.
The facility, alongside a volcano and the country’s flag, comes months after the president said he would construct a geothermal mining plant with 100% clean and renewable energy.
Bukele termed the facility as “first steps,” even as Bitcoin proponents continue to call for the reduction of emissions from Bitcoin mining.
Tesla’s CEO said that Bitcoin reached its benchmark on renewable energy use in July, with the percentage likely to be at or above 50%.
BTCUSD is up +3.69%.
