(Chicago Fed) The Chicago Fed National Activity Index fell to -0.13 in September, from a gain of 0.05% in August, reflecting a decline in production-related indicators.
On a three-month moving average, the index was down to +0.25, from +0.38 in August.
Production-related indicators led to a -0.37 impact on the national activity index, down from -0.08 in August. Industrial production was down 1.3%, after falling again by 0.1% in August.
The Diffusion Index, a three-month average, rose to +0.22, from +0.20 posted in August.
The employment-related indicators led to a +0.16 uptick in the national activity index, up from +0.09 in August. The unemployment rate was down by 0.4% in September, after another 0.2% decrease in August.
