Carrefour has announced that it is on track to meet its targets for 2023, following its positive financial performance in the first half of the year. Despite a slight slowdown in revenue growth during the second quarter, Carrefour reported a higher net profit and increased sales.
In the first six months of the year, Carrefour recorded a net profit of €867 million ($958.5 million), a significant increase compared to €255 million in the same period last year. Sales for the first half also experienced growth, rising from €42.00 billion to €45.45 billion. On a like-for-like basis, sales saw a solid increase of 11% in the first half, although growth slightly decreased to 10% in the second quarter.
Carrefour attributed the decrease in recurring operating income, which fell from €775 million to €700 million, partly to currency effects.
Despite these challenges, Chairman and Chief Executive Alexandre Bompard expressed full confidence in Carrefour’s second-half performance. He also confirmed that the company remains committed to achieving its full-year objectives of growth in Ebitda, recurring operating income, and net free cash flow.
