(Seeking Alpha) Shares of Astra Space rose more than 35% on Monday, boosted by the first commercial orbital launch at the Kodiak Spaceport on Friday last week.
Astra’s payload hit an orbital velocity of 7.61 km per second in just 8 minutes and 47 seconds. The test payload had an inclination of 86.0 degrees Celsius and an attitude of 500 km.
The launch was contracted by the US Space Force through its Defense Innovation Unit.
Astra CEO and Chairman Chris Kemp lauded the orbit launch as an important milestone. He says the launch paves the way for scaling up rocket production and delivering its customer promise.
