Apple’s Vision Pro Headset: A Potential Blowout Product

Apple Inc. appears to have another hit product in its lineup with the new Vision Pro headset. The online preorders for this mixed-reality device have been extremely popular, as evidenced by the quoted delivery times.

While Apple enthusiasts can preorder the Vision Pro headset today, they will have to wait until at least Feb. 2nd to receive their orders. However, for those who are placing orders now, the estimated delivery time for a 256GB Vision Pro without optical inserts is between March 1st and March 8th.

In the past, investors would gauge the demand for Apple products by counting the number of people lining up outside stores on launch day. However, with the rise of online shopping, delivery times have become a key metric for determining popularity. While delivery times can indicate high demand, it’s also important to consider factors such as supply levels and initial stock availability.

It remains to be seen whether the strong performance of the Vision Pro headset is due to its immense popularity, limited initial stock or a combination of both.

Apple’s stock sentiment

Despite recent negativity surrounding Apple’s stock, there may be a silver lining on the horizon.

Apple’s Vision Pro: Strong Demand and Limited Volumes

Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani shares a positive outlook on Apple’s Vision Pro, stating that their purchasing experience suggests strong demand for the product compared to Apple’s expectations. Although delivery times have slipped, indicating high initial demand, Daryanani acknowledges that Apple may have planned for limited volumes in the first year.

Apple did not respond to requests for comment regarding Vision Pro preorders or the supply-and-demand balance for the device.

Despite Apple’s upcoming earnings report, it remains uncertain how much information Wall Street will receive about the device’s sales. Apple typically does not disclose specific sales figures for its popular Apple Watch, instead categorizing it under Wearables, Home and Accessories alongside AirPods and HomePods.

However, there may be some early trends revealed when Apple’s management addresses investors during the company’s next earnings call on February 1. For those who may have forgotten about the Vision Pro, a device that Apple initially teased in early June, the company has released a new video offering a guided tour of the device.
