Airbus wants its suppliers to prepare for higher production of its bestselling planes, according to The Guardian. Airbus hopes to increase manufacture of A320 single-aisle aircraft from 40 to 45 monthly by October.
Airbus wants suppliers to prepare for a monthly rate of 64 by spring 2023 for A320 single-aisle aircraft best for short air travels expected to be the fastest to recover.
The 64 monthly production rates would beat its previous record of 63 and could be followed by that of 70 by the beginning of 2024 and 75 by 2025.
The pandemic saw the aviation sector experience very low demand due to few customer orders resulting in low revenues.
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury advised suppliers to obtain necessary capacities as the sector recovers and prepare for necessary market conditions.
