(Bitcoinist) Apparel brand Adidas announced a collaboration with Coinbase and The Sandbox in a move seen to signal forays into blockchain and booming metaverse space.
Adidas did not reveal the details of the partnership in a Twitter announcement where it teased followers with the caption, “probably nothing.” The partnership happens after The Sandbox onboarding.
The move by the apparel giant signals the first step into “metaverse apparel,” which is gaining traction among high fashion brands. A tweet by The Sandbox on November 22 confirming the partnership with Adidas hinted at bringing more partners to the Metaverse journey.
There are speculations that the partnership with Coinbase could be on a payments system, aiming to integrate crypto purchases through the Adidas ecosystem.
Adidas’ move is now seen to follow rival Nike, which partnered with Roblox last week in virtual branding named “NIKELAND.”
