A $2.3B Increase in Airport Infrastructure Costs Complicating Air Travel- IATA

(IATA)The International Air Transport Association is warning that a $2.3 billion increase in airport and air navigation service provider charges could hamper air transport recovery.

IATA says the costs could increase further by up to ten times if proposals submitted by airports and ANSPs are given the green light.

The air travel association says the cost increase is adding further burden on the air travel, which is already weakened by Covid-19.

IATA says cost reduction should be the priority for airports and ANSP as they try to attract travelers back.

Cost increases by airlines are seen as a way to recover lost revenue and profits during the pandemic. The cost is an increment to a 40% rise planned for next year.
