Maersk’s Revenue Jump 60% to $14.2B in Q2 Driven by High Container Shipping Rates

(Maersk) A.P. Moller-Maersk announced $14.2 billion revenue in the second quarter of 2021, a 60% increase from the same period last year driven by high container shipping rates.

The world’s largest container shipping company reported $3.7 billion in the second quarter profit, up from $443 million reported in the same period last year. 

The ocean segment of the company increased the highest by $4.5 billion, driven by high freight rates and increasing volumes. 

The first phase of A.P. Moller-Maersk share repurchases of an estimated $500 million was executed in the quarter, with the remaining $1.1 billion expected between May and September. 

The company has upgraded the 2021 guideline to an EBITDA of $18-$19.5 billion, an EBIT of between $14 billion and $15.5 billion, and a projected cash flow of more than $11.5 billion.
