Background
Toy maker Funko announced on Friday that Brian Mariotti, who had previously served as the company’s CEO and member of the board, has resigned, effective September 1st. This move comes shortly after Mariotti stepped down as CEO in July and took a leave of absence, with full support from the board of directors.
Resignation
Funko clarified that Mariotti’s resignation from both the board and the company is not a result of any disagreement with the company’s operations, policies, or practices. The decision seems to be amicable and unrelated to any internal conflicts.
A History with Funko
Brian Mariotti had a long history with Funko, having held the position of CEO and chief creative officer in the past. After stepping down as CEO, he was reappointed to lead the company in December 2022. Moreover, Mariotti has been a member of Funko’s board since its formation in April 2017.
New Role
In addition to his resignation, Mariotti has entered into an advisor agreement with Funko. Under this agreement, he will provide consulting and advisory services to the company, leveraging his expertise and experience.
