Boeing said on Tuesday it logged more cancellations than orders for its 737 Max plane last month as carriers prepare to return the jets to service after two deadly crashes, reports CNBC. The plane maker’s backlog in November fell to 4,240 jets from 4,275 a month earlier due to cancellations.
- Customers including Virgin Australia and lessor Air Lease canceled orders for 88 Max planes
- Virgin Australia also changed its order to include 25 of the 737 Max 10, a larger model, to be delivered starting mid-2023
- Brazilian carrier Gol is set to become the first airline to fly the Max commercially after a 20-month grounding, and its Max flights are scheduled to take off from its Sao Paulo hub on Wednesday.
- American Airlines is on track to become the first U.S. carrier to resume Max flights on December 29 with first routes between Miami and New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
- Boeing delivered 7 aircrafts in November, bringing the total deliveries in the first 11 months to 118, down from 345 during the first 11 months of 2019
