Washington Agrees to Share 60M Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine

The U.S plans to share about 60 millions doses of AstraZeneca vaccine with the rest of the world according to The Wall Street Journal. Officials also explore an urgent need to dispatch oxygen and other suppliers to Covid-hit India.

The U.S move reflects mounting pressure to share vaccines with developing nations worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

White House officials would also send remdesivir antiviral treatment and a team of public-health experts to India.

Washington could also ship 16 million AstraZeneca to other countries in the next two months 

Doses of AstraZeneca would be exported to other countries as soon as the Food and Drug Administration certifies certain “product quality’’ expectations.

AstraZeneca did not comment on whether it was consulted on the decision to send the U.S supply to other countries.AstraZeneca stock is currently gaining. AZN: LON is up 1.17%
