London to Move to Tier 2 Lockdown Restrictions on Friday Midnight

UK Care Minister Helen Whately told members of parliament that London would move into Tier 2 COVID-19 restrictions from Friday Midnight into Saturday.

Tier 2 restrictions imply no indoor house mixing and public transport.

  • All businesses and venues to continue operating other than those closed under the law, such as adult entertainment venues and nightclubs. 
  • Certain businesses selling food or drinks to close between 10 pm and 5 am. Those selling through a delivery service and click-and-collect to continue operating after 10 pm 
  • Places of worship, schools, and universities to remain open.
  • Funerals and weddings to continue but with restrictions on attendees
  • Organised indoor sport and exercise classes to continue, but “Rule of Six” to be followed, which also apply to outdoor and in-private gardens 
  • People should not meet outside their household or support bubble in any indoor setting.
  • People should reduce travel as much as possible.
