India Seeks Intervention in Taming Surging Price of COVID-19 Supplies from China

Indian envoys have urged China to help in stopping Covid-19 supplies price increases as India battles a surging second wave of the pandemic, according to SCMP. The increased prices coupled with cargo flight disruptions between the two countries have slowed arrival of the medical goods.

India gets oxygen components as well as other medical requirements from China.

Price increases of more than double normal rates and decreased cargo flights between the two countries have hampered efforts by India to curb the ravaging pandemic.

Production of medical requirements in India have been affected by the price fluctuations and cargo flight disruptions.

India is facing its worst wave of the pandemic with daily cases rising to 329,942 and 3,876 deaths.

The rising patient numbers in India has created a shortage in medical equipment and personnel to care for the affected.
