Gsa Will Provide Biden With The Resources To Begin The Presidential Transition

Emily Murphy, the General Services Administrator, said on Monday that she would avail resources and services to help President-elect Joe Biden begin his presidential transition, according to Business Insider. The news came after Congressional Democrats expressed outrage that Murphy was refusing to recognize Biden as the president-elect, delaying his transition.

  • In the coming days, transition officials will be meeting federal officials to discuss the pandemic response and national security and understand Trump’s efforts to hollow out government agencies.
  • President Donald Trump took credit for Murphy’s decision but expressed confidence in being declared the winner in the elections he lost to Biden.
  • Murphy’s decision has been lauded as a big step in Trump’s conceding and stresses the legal obligation she has in ensuring a smooth transfer of power.
  • Yohannes Abraham, the executive director of the Biden-Harris transition team, welcomed Murphy’s decision saying it was needed to get the economy back on track and bring the pandemic under control.
