E-commerce Giant Amazon Pushes for Marijuana Legalization

Amazon is pushing for federal legalization of marijuana and will not test its workers on the drug, according to Marijuana Moment. The e-commerce giant will also lobby for marijuana use legislation at the Congress and work with movements supporting the use of the drug.

Amazon’s move is a twist from the past where it disqualified its staff from working with the company if they tested positive for the drug.

Amazon will treat marijuana as alcohol use but will not stop performing impairment checks for its employees.

The e-commerce giant has in the past faced lawsuits initiated by employees who claimed unfair termination for using marijuana.

Amazon stock is currently declining. AMZN: NASDAQ is down 0.43% on premarket.
